Yoga and Surf at Wavy Surf Camp

 

Yoga has become a trend nowadays. Everybody wants to practise Yoga, specially surfers. But why is that? What does yoga offer that makes it so special?  Is it only fashion or is it actually that important? On Wavy Surf Camp blog we tell you everything you need to know! 😀

We believe that the best way to learn more about Yoga and Surf is to ask an expert. That is why we have interviewed  Stephanie, one of our Yoga teachers. Stephanie tells us her opinion and brings some light to all of us.

#1. Why is Yoga so important nowadays?

“I think it is popular because today we are living in a world in which everything has to be done fast an quick. People have more pressure at work which means they are stressed out much more.  And yoga can help you to calm down, take things slow and to connect with yourself again. You are able to be present and live on the moment. You are forgetting everything around you. It’s like time stands still. You can start using your breath and recharge your Batteries. Doing yoga means making yourself a priority.”

#2. Why every surfer seems to be interested in Yoga at the moment ?

“While surfing you have to be calm and go with the flow. Be one with the Ocean and your breath. And doing Yoga means the same. You are staring to learn breathing techniques and different kind of Asanas while being in your flow. Those things also help you when you are surfing. It helps you to get stronger in your Arms and in your back. Get more flexibility  and to get a clear Mind. Both together is the best you could do for your body and mind.”

#3. Where did you lern yoga and why is it so important for you ?

“I started practicing 4 years ago, because i wanted to get my flexibility back. In the beginning it was really hard for me to get into yoga but the moment i realized how yoga is changing my life the more I started to let it be part of my daily routine. It was life chaning for me. I got my body awarness back, my body got stronger day by day and I was more mindful. I found out so many things about me what i didn’t know before. I started to feel more confident , to love myself and to get a deeper connection to myself.”

#4. How are the yoga Lessons at Wavy Surf Camp ?

“Really chill and for every type of person . With our lessons we want to offer some relaxation after a day full of surfing. We want to stretch out your muscles, recharge your Batteries. Everyone can join this classes from beginner till advanced.”

#5. Do You think yoga is a sport or a way of life ? 

“For me it’s definitely a way of living. It is so much more than only moving your body. It’s more about connecting with yourself again. It’s about to get to know yourself better. Learn to be Grateful and appreciate yourself and your life that you are creating. Learn to connect deep with your Soul and to be truly happy.”
