Techniques to improve your balance in surfing
We’re going to introduce some techniques to improve your surfing balance out of the water. We know that It is a bit difficult to enjoy the sea everyday, but from Wavy Surf Camp we’ll give you some alternatives to develop your balance in surfing.
Both summer and winter can be very long when you’re waiting to be able to go to the beach to catch waves, either because of work, clases or the distance to the closest beach.
Here are some techniques to improve your balance in surfing, while you’re like a fish out of water:
1. On wheels → Longskate
With this option, you get to enhance your basic skills as the balance and turns. Try to wear the appropriate protective clothing, because the falls can be painful and enjoy this alternative to surfing on wheels and asphalt.
2. In half pipe → Carving
This type of skating is the most similar to surfing, as putting wheels, halfpipe and skating characteristics together you can get incredible turns and maneuvers. It helps to lose any fear of heights and to make extreme turns as if you were surfing.
3. In the air → Slackline
Slackline has become a balance sport, making use of a nylon or polyester tape, tightened between two fixed supports. You practise balancing while walking along the tape and no grips are used help with your balance.
4. At home → Indoboard
The indoboard consists of a board and a cylinder (they are very easy to find, or even to make). The aim of this exercise is improve your coordination and balance.
