5 tips to fight cold while surfing in Winter
Hey guys! There are still a few winter months before we can enjoy the summer season at Wavy Surf Camp. Therefore, we would like to share with you some tips so you don´t get cold while surfing during this time of the year.
1. Get a proper wetsuit. Depending on the temperature of the water you might need a 4.3 or a 5.4 wetsuit during winter months. It is worth it to spend some money in a good one so you assure you get good mobility in the water and you don´t get cold.
2. Use booties and gloves if needed. If water is very cold in your destination do not hesitate to get some booties and gloves as well. We lose a lot of our body heat through our hands and feet. Maybe you want to check a hood as well if your surfing destination is extremely cold.
3.Prepare some hot tea for after surf. Get a Thermo bottle and bring some hot tea or hot chocolate for after your session. This will warm your body up quickly.
4. Check the forecast and avoid the hours when the wind is stronger. Wind makes us feel very cold when we are surfing. Of course, is not always easy to avoid wind, but sometimes waking up a bit earlier might help.
5. Use a warm hooded towel to get change. If you manage to get changed fast using a warm hooded towel you will avoid getting cold before entering in the water. This might help a lot. Get changed quickly and head straight to the beach. Warm up, run a bit and paddle out!
