Interview to Wavy Surf Camp Instructor, Lele
Hi guys! We are hoping you are ready for winter. Remember to keep a healthy routine so you are ready when next season comes!
You might want to know a little bit more about Wavy people from the inside. So here you can find this interview we made to Lele, a very famous surf instructor from Wavy Surf Camp! Lele is from Italy and has worked for Wavy for a few seasons already!
- How long have you been teaching surfing?
Lele: Allright! Yes I’ve been teaching surfing for about 3 years already.
2. Have you worked as a surf instructor in different countries or schools?
Lele: Yes I have worked in different surf schools in different countries. I started in England in Cornwall in the town of Newquay. Then I spent the summer season in Wavy in Portugal. Last winter I spent the season in Nicaragua and Costa Rica working for a surf camp. But Wavy is such a good place so of course I came back again to work during summer season.
3. What’s the best thing about being a surf instructor?
Lele: Wow there are so many things about being surf instructor! I don’t know which one is the best. But first of all, seeing the epic faces of people getting waves and having so much fun and fully loving this sport. Second I would say the feeling of transmitting your knowledge and make people love this sport. Seeing them extremely happy is amazing. And third I haver to say that the wipe outs are very funny to watch, hehehe (Lele laughs)
4. Which advice would you give to people who would like to try surfing but they are scared of the waves?
Lele: For people scared of waves I will always suggest to never go alone of course, go always with someone. Better someone who knows a bit more about surfing. Umm, I would suggest to stay in the white wash which is always good for training your pop up, turning and pumping technique. I would give them some advice on learning how to read the forecast so they always know what the conditions are and what they are going for. And yeah step by step beat up your confidence (fear) with the waves and the water and just take it step by step.
5. What makes Wavy Surf Camp different from other camps/schools you have worked for?
Lele: Wavy is very different from the other camps or schools I have worked for because they are based on “creating a group”. Creating some, you know, deep friendship, family vibes for that week, which is the best thing. Thats is why I really love working for wavy. Because I have worked for example for other schools where is only one lesson and that’s it or for other camps. But for this other camps people would stay for 2, 3, 4 days…There was always changing people always changing…so didn’t really created a family atmosphere. Wavy is based on this and it is the best thing ever for sure.
6. Any fun memories from Wavy you would like to share with us?
Lele: For the last question I have been thinking about it for a while and literally there have been soooo many fun moments and I have had so much fun that I really can’t pick one. I can’t I am sorry!
Wavy Surf Camp: You don’t need to be sorry Lele, we know you had so much fun! hehe All the Wavy team and guests love you so much! Thanks a lot for replying to all our questions.
